More About Me

Here's more about how I ended up in my current major and my life trajectories. I started as a Biochemistry student during my first semester at Old Dominion University. However, I quickly realized that my passions were elsewhere. I discovered that I could study game design and decided to pursue it, as gaming had been a hobby of mine for years. I initially chose to pursue a minor in communication because I thought it would complement my major, but that quickly changed after taking my first communications course.

I fell in love with the concepts I was learning in communications. Everything was modern and about what was happening now, rather than studying history or memorizing formulas. I looked into double-major options and declared a double major in Media Studies and Game Design. I am earning a Bachelor of Science in both majors, with a stronger focus on the technical aspects and critical analysis of the work I do. Both majors work well together and help me build upon the knowledge I learn in my courses.

I took higher-level courses for both majors, creating projects for my resume and job applications. Additionally, I completed an internship focusing on marketing and social media management for a local business in Virginia Beach. The skills I learn there will give me more experience when applying for jobs after graduation. After graduation, I plan to seek careers that align with my passions. Ideally, I would love to work for a game company such as Atlus or Riot, either helping with game development or handling marketing, data analytics, media management, and more. Additionally, I have been developing my game concept for the last few years, something I hope to produce as a selling game, whether through a company or an indie publisher.
