Communication:
While at Studio Center, communication was a highlight of my experience. I was constantly conversing with employees and interns throughout my experience. One of the biggest things I had to do was ask questions about the content that my supervisors were looking for. Each client had a specific vision that they wanted for their page, and to understand what that was, I had to consult with my supervisor to create content that would suit each client. Additionally, I would ask for the needed information and guidance when creating graphics to ensure accuracy.
I would also work closely with the other social media intern, Megan, to create content for Studio Center. Together, we completed various tasks assigned to us, requiring us to communicate with each other verbally and actively listen to the ideas we were sharing to find the perfect content for Studio Center and our clients. We worked together mostly on creating Reels/TikTok videos that could be used. Being able to communicate in this environment effectively has shown me how important the skill is in the field, and I will continue to develop it after my internship.
Here are some examples:
Technology:
Technology was a large part of my internship at Studio Center. Every day, I was either on my laptop creating graphics, searching for content ideas on my phone, or researching online. Without technology, I wouldn’t have been able to complete the tasks assigned to me. Additionally, I would discover how to use new technology that I had little experience with beforehand. Through my internship, I learned how to create videos through CapCut, a tool I was unfamiliar with. My supervisor, Haleigh, mentioned that she never thought that CapCut would become so popular, but here it is now, widely used by professionals and amateurs alike. Learning a new application like this will be good for industry use, and I plan to continue honing this skill further and learn how to edit more long-form content after mastering short-form.
Here are some examples:
Teamwork:
Throughout my experience at Studio Center, teamwork was the core of many aspects of my work. I worked with my supervisors, Haleigh and Rusty, as well as the other intern, Megan, constantly coming up with new ideas and creating content. Additionally, I got to collaborate with the other interns at times, helping them out with content. We all worked together one day to create TikToks for Studio Center. Additionally, one day I got to help out the video and audio production department with an in-house shoot they were doing with a business. I would help out where they needed me while also taking behind-the-scenes footage for Haleigh and Rusty. By the end of my internship, many employees at Studio Center commended the interns for our collaborative efforts this summer and said that we have been one of the best groups of interns they’ve had. I say that this is primarily due to us relying on each other for our strengths to achieve our goals at Studio Center. Getting to work with others in a professional environment will help me when I am collaborating with future coworkers in my field.
